"And so you're back, from outer space..."

Hello everyone! I hope your week has been a bit calmer than mine, but alas, this is the nature of the end of the semester. It has been snowing in Georgetown for the past three days. About two inches of snow is on the ground making the college very festive. Hanging of the Green was fantastic, and for me it was followed by the FFG Tacky Christmas Party. I cannot begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed FFG this year. I have made connections with all my family members that will last a very long time. It is so important at college to have those close friends in which you can trust and confide. I just attended the Georgetown College Choir Department’s Holiday Concert. It was very nice and a great way to get in the mood for the Christmas season. Sorority and Fraternity Recruitment signups were also this week. If you sign up early your freshman year, it will save you money. I am sure I will have more details for you as the year goes on about the process of recruitment. I also attended a ‘One Act’ the other night at the theatre building. These are short plays directed and performed by students. I highly suggest going to anything the theatre department puts on, as everything I have been to has been a blast. Reading Day is on Thursday, so I am sure I will have some interesting stories from that. Finals begin on Friday as well, so there will be a lot of studying in my life for the next week.
This week has been very productive for me personally, but it has been a struggle to get everything done and done well. I have written so many papers since I have spoken with you over the last few weeks that they are all beginning to run together. Some highlights have been finishing my English paper and portfolio for the semester. My last essay ended up being about nine pages along with several pages of research verification. I finished my semester paper for Psychology which is exciting. It was not that long though, around four pages. I am currently working on my final Foundations paper which should be about five pages. I have had some other projects and smaller papers thrown in there as well. College has definitely made me better at multi-tasking because my roommate and I both enjoy either watching T.V. or listening to music as we write. These final few weeks are always intense for everyone, so try to stay on top of things and be understanding if people are a bit stressed. It is nothing that you cannot get through though. I would guess high school finals are starting to creep closer now as well, good luck with that. I am actually writing a ‘Finals Survival Guide’ in the Georgetonian this week so keep an eye out for that. Hopefully it will help you de-stress a bit during this crazy time of year.
As always, I remain your email accessible, internet-mediated window into the world of Georgetown College. Have a great week.
