Hello! I want to welcome all of you fine people back and thank you for reading my blog. This week I just want to ramble a bit, so please excuse me if I speak more haphazardly than normal.
“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” College life is a lot like that. You could wake up one morning and by some miracle have all your classes cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. Another option is getting an email detailing all the things you have to accomplish before midnight. One day, like today for instance, you could play basketball with some friends and lose track of time for a while. Or you could have to go to the LRC right after class and stay there until it closes working on homework, tests, etc. But honestly, college life and I “go together like peas and carrots.” The new experience that happens each and every day is exciting and makes life interesting. I cannot name a day when I did not experience something new and different here at Georgetown. College life is busy as well. I am sure I am not telling you anything you didn’t already know though. If you are anything like me, you were involved in everything in high school that you could be involved with and still get respectable amounts a sleep at night. Ha, Ha. From the moment I set foot on Georgetown’s campus that first day, I have been running. “Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!” One day I was hungry, so I decided to make a run to Subway with friends, (you can use your G-Card there by the way, along with Fava’s and Papa John’s.) After we went to Subway, we figured we would run over to the Mulberry CafĂ©, (the campus coffee shop where you can use your G-Card and, at select times, use your meals there.) After that, we made a little run over to the Grill to see what was happening there. We figured since we had come that far, we would run over to the REC and play some ping-pong. (As a side note, I do not play ping-pong with a Flexolite ping-pong paddle. On another side note, the REC is the campus activities and recreation facility. I know, I do point out the obvious. They have two pool tables and a ping-pong table along with two basketball courts and a gym. It is a great place to go hang out, play a sport or workout.) We decided not to run across Greenbow County, the entire state of Mississippi or run into an ocean and turn around. As I mentioned earlier, I remembered my first day of college. “You know it's funny what a young man recollects, 'cause I don't remember bein' born. I don't recall what I got for my first Christmas and I don't know when I went on my first outdoor picnic. But I do remember the first time” I went to college. I was very nervous about it, but after a few weeks, I feel perfectly at home here at Georgetown. Another thing I was apprehensive about was the food. If you get to know me, I have a tendency to eat, oh let’s just say, more than my fair share. The CAF has all kinds of good things to eat like tortellini, chicken BLT’s, shrimp and rice, etc. “Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautĂ© it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.” Okay, so maybe I wasn’t exactly sayin’ that.
I know that I really have not said much of consequence. “It happens….sometime.” I just hope you might have been at least entertained and your day brightened a bit by something that was said. I know your senior year can be tiresome, a bit boring and drag on for forever. Remember to just keep running. It will all pay off in the end. I hope you are having and will continue to have a fantastic week. Until next time…
Did you get your format about running from a Youtube video? Free Running? Maybe you didn't, but if so. I know the guy who made that video and reading your blog was flashback. Ha ha. Anyway, if not then it was still a good post and I'm excited about attending Georgetown next Fall. :)
ReplyDeleteI did not get my format from a youtube video, but I will look into it. That sounds pretty cool. Thank you! I look forward to seeing you as well. :)
